The most intimate of the three, Ostria is brimming with charm and warmth at 35m². A secluded backyard offers the perfect setting for al fresco dining as you bask in the glow of the island's mesmerizing sunsets.

Check the wind before you choose a beach
Tinos is famous for its north wind, the meltemi. When it blows, the north-coast beaches near us get wavy — that's the day to drive south to Agios Sostis, Porto or Agios Ioannis, where the sea stays calm. On still days, Kolymbithra and Rohari are right on our doorstep.

Fish by the water in Panormos
Our village's little harbour is just 3.5 km away. Fishing boats, a handful of tavernas and tables a few steps from the sea — order whatever came in that morning and stay for the evening light.

Pyrgos, the village of marble
You're staying in the heart of Tinian marble carving. Visit the Museum of Marble Crafts, 600 m from your door, look out for the carved fanlights above the doorways, then have a coffee and something sweet in the shaded square.
Hidden gem
Volax, among the giant boulders
A tiny village set in a landscape of huge round granite rocks, like nowhere else in Greece. Come in the late afternoon, wander the lanes and look for the old basket weavers’ workshops.

Sunset from Kardiani or Isternia
Both villages cling to the hillside above the sea, looking out towards Syros. They're on the road between Pyrgos and Chora, so stop on your way back from town — a glass of local wine while the sun goes down over the Aegean.
Worth the climb
Climb Exobourgo
The great rock in the middle of the island, crowned with the ruins of a Venetian fortress. The walk up is short but steep in places — wear proper shoes and go early or late in the day. From the top you can see almost all of the Cyclades.
Taste Tinos
Eat what the island grows
Look for louza (the island's cured pork), local cheeses, capers and — in spring — Tinos's famous artichokes. Ask the taverna what's local today; the best dishes are rarely on the printed menu.
Getting around
Rent a car — it's worth it
Tinos has more than 40 villages and the buses don't reach most of them. With a car, the whole island is within an hour of Pyrgos, and the winding roads are half the fun.

The Feast of the Virgin Mary is the island's biggest day. Pilgrims arrive from all over Greece at Panagia Evangelistria and Chora fills up — moving and unforgettable, but ferries and rooms book out months in advance.
